It's the attitude
that counts

Who do you trust?

Mindset & Culture

Your Challenge

"We don’t have problems with mindset & culture, there are more important issues to deal with..." In the area of mindset and culture, more than in many others, the first challenge is often a lack of awareness. If individual attitudes or company culture are not questioned and reflected, underlying problems will go unaddressed for too long. They will cause frictions or operational disturbances that will eventually take up valuable time and energy and distract from the actual work.

This constant putting out of fires gets in the way of analyzing root causes and developing course corrections. Fortunately, many such difficulties can be resolved or do not arise in the first place when agile work is part of the new company culture.

Many corporate guidelines state that trust, respect and feedback are integral parts of their company culture. But be honest: how much do you truly trust your colleagues? How much do they trust you? Do team members admit mistakes to you? Do they ask for your input and advice when they are stuck? How about your department‘s willingness to try something new? And to potentially fail? And, do you really give feedback that is as open and honest as it should be?

The Agile Answer

It's the attitude that counts, regardless of whether you have already embraced agile work or not. The Agile Manifest is a quick read: four values and twelve principles that make sense and sound right. However, putting these values into practice, building a company culture around them, living and applying them on a daily basis is a different story altogether, and one that doesn’t happen overnight. It’s a continuous learning process. And at its core, there are trust, respect and courage between team members of all levels, and a growth mindset that sees mistakes as opportunities.

This is the key to success. Every team will benefit when the culture of teamwork is improved by a changed attitude towards colleagues and their own work. Google calls this „psychological safety“: a prerequisite for effective teamwork.

We, too, will start by looking at your own attitude, your whole personality, your beliefs and experiences as starting points for your journey towards a more agile mindset. If you want real change in your team, you need to walk your talk and start with yourself.

Be honest with yourself, be open for new experiences and trust (us when we say) that a small shift in perspective can have a dramatic impact.
